Beyond Wellness. Beyond Networking
Toward Community Wellbeing
We believe that thriving people and thriving businesses go hand-in-hand. Inspired by the City of North Vancouver’s 2024 Wellbeing Strategy, we are a collective of local business owners moving beyond our respective products and services to focus on the bigger picture: physical, mental, emotional, social, and financial wellbeing in everyday North Shore life.
Our Goal:
To raise the profile of values-forward businesses and collaborate on meaningful local projects that make our community more resilient.

What’s emerging
Since our first two launch gatherings, something important has started to take shape. There is real interest in creating a different kind of business community on the North Shore, one rooted in relationship, shared purpose, and a broader understanding of what helps people and communities thrive.
At the same time, we have realized we need to be clearer about what this collective is, and what it is not. Because this does not fit neatly into familiar models, some of the early conversations have been a bit circular, which feels natural at this stage, but the direction is becoming clearer.
Why wellbeing
This is a wellbeing collective, not a wellness network. We are not talking only about services, practices, or individual health, as important as those are. We are thinking more broadly about the conditions that support people and communities to actually thrive: connection, belonging, access, environment, and the wider social determinants of health.
That broader lens is part of what makes this interesting. It opens up the possibility that local businesses can play a meaningful role in community wellbeing, not with products and services alone, but as trusted, embedded contributors to the life of this place.
What this is not
The North Shore Wellbeing Collective is not a Chamber of Commerce, a BIA, or a BNI style networking group. It is not about referrals, transactional marketing, or promoting our businesses to each other for their own sake.
It is also not a social service organization.
What we are interested in is something that sits in between, a space where locally rooted businesses and practitioners can build relationships, think together, and explore how to contribute to the long term wellbeing of this community in ways that are also meaningful and sustainable for business.
Where we are heading
Right now, the collective is still in its formative stage. Rather than imposing a fixed structure too early, we are working toward a founding circle of people who feel aligned with this intention and want to help shape the mission, values, and direction of the Collective.
There is interesting movement here. It is early, but there is momentum, and this feels like a meaningful moment for people who want to be part of building something thoughtful, local, and genuinely useful on the North Shore.
Invitation
If this resonates with you, and you are curious about being involved, we would love to hear from you. We are especially interested in connecting with values aligned local business owners and practitioners across all sectors of the economy who care about relationship, community, and the long view.
